Moving on

We got up this morning and had a lovely breakfast with only a little arm twisting to get the kids to actually eat protein with their food. Headed out through Zion again, and the kids were pleased to share their newly acquired knowledge of the fact that the tunnel through the park is the longest in the United States at 1.1 miles long.

Just another beautiful day

Little hole in bottom center is a tunnel "window"

Entrance to the tunnel

And the exit 1.1 miles later

We drove up through southern Utah to Bryce National Park, and checked in at the Ranger Station to get the Junior Ranger books. We then returned to town and checked into our hotel, and settled all of our junk. We returned to the park, and drove up to the end, at Rainbow Point, and attempted a short hike. Unfortunately, we were sidelined by the lack of proper footwear for the amount of SNOW that topped the peak. We got about a quarter mile in and lost any semblance of a path, so we returned disappointed, to the car.

Beautiful combination of snow and stone

Crazy to think that come spring, this snow will reface some of these hoodoo

C says we are the luckiest people in the world. I cannot disagree

All this snow makes me feel like we're back in NH. Almost.

Just so beautiful!

The brats at rest

Came back to the hotel and had some dinner, then watched a movie and drank a beer (well, I did, the kids didn't get any of it). K fell, and hurt her wrist. It is a little swollen, but ice seems to be bringing it down. Not too worried.

We have more Bryce Canyon on the agenda for tomorrow, and then, perhaps moving toward Canyonland. Loving this adventure through southern Utah, I highly recommend it to anyone who has the chance to get out this way...
